Kim Farbota (b. 1988, Chicago) is a painter, sculptor and mixed media artist living and working in Los Angeles. She earned her Ph.D. in neuroscience at the age of 24, studying psychoactive drugs and brain injury. She went on to attend Yale Law School, during which time both of her children were born. She spent five years practicing as an environmental attorney before burnout caught up with her in 2020. She left the law, moved with her family from LA to Joshua Tree, and spent almost three years in conscious transition. Dr. Farbota’s dedication to art was catalyzed by a realization that she was unable to navigate the world with deductive reasoning alone. She found that the methodical, scientific lens was insufficient for exploring the profound interconnectivity that exists between the workings of the physical universe and the subjective human experience. Intuition finds new horizons. Her evolving, receptive style reflects the function of art as a compliment to the sciences and humanities, a method of intellectual exploration that can accommodate bold leaps without risking credibility.
