Bio: Kim Farbota (b. 1988, Chicago) is a painter, sculptor and mixed media artist living and working in Los Angeles. She earned her Ph.D. in neuroscience at the age of 24, studying psychoactive drugs and brain injury at the state universities of Illinois and Wisconsin. She went on to attend Yale Law School, during which time both of her children were born. She spent five years practicing as an environmental attorney with a major firm before burning out in 2020. She left law firm life, moved with her family from LA to Joshua Tree, and spent three years in conscious transition.

Dr. Farbota’s dedication to art was catalyzed by a realization that she was unable to navigate the world with deductive reasoning alone. She found that the methodical, scientific lens was insufficient for exploring the profound interconnectivity that exists between the workings of the physical universe and the subjective human experience. Intuition finds new horizons. Her research-based artistic practice reflects the function of art as a compliment to the sciences and humanities, a method of intellectual exploration that can accommodate bold leaps without risking credibility.
